Legendary commanders as battle loot

5% chance to win one of 30 legendary commanders when destroying an enemy-faction ship (pirate, outlaw or rebel) — carrier interceptors excluded.
These characters never apply normally; they are earned only in combat and added straight to your crew (each only once).
Winning one shows a striking world-event popup with portrait, name and backstory.
Destroying carrier interceptors now grants only half the commander/officer XP.

Five new ship officers

Shield officer (extra damage reduction on top of armor) and evasion officer (enemy salvos miss more often).
Munitions officer lowers plasma/ammo use per salvo; quartermaster lowers the ship’s operating cost.
Boarding officer captures more prisoners from destroyed enemy ships.
Like all officers: at most one per specialization per warship, XP from kills, automatically scaling bonus.

Crew can defect in PvP

When a warship is destroyed, its commander and officers roll their fate: 60% escape pod (kept), 20% killed, 20% defection.
On defection after a human opponent’s victory the crew actually moves to their account — you can redeploy captured commanders/officers.
Applies in all PvP paths: fleet attack, planetary defense and single-ship patrol. Against pirates/outlaws/bots the crew is simply lost.

Officers (ship crew)

The former combat staff are now called “Officers” and are assigned to individual warships — at most one per specialization (accuracy/damage/armor/speed) per ship.
Officers gain experience from their ship’s kills; their bonus grows automatically with level — no manual point spending.
Commanders are unchanged: a ship can have one commander plus several officers.

Commander portraits are now extensible separately for male/female — there is always exactly one free slot per sex.
Staff images (per specialization) now support bulk upload: pick several files at once and they fill the free male/female slots automatically.

Ten new staff specializations

New specializations: build time, build cost, repair, planetary defense, ground troops, fleet armor, storage capacity, forced labor, diplomacy (tariff) and probe find rate.
Each scales with the assigned staff member's level; cost reductions are capped at −50%. The admin gets the usual 10 image slots per new specialization.
The kill statistics now also appear at the bottom of the ships/fleet view.

Pirates: retreat to base & wreck salvage

Heavily damaged pirate ships (below 35% hull) now flee to the nearest pirate base to repair instead of patching up on the spot.
The pirate faction now salvages wrecks too: older, unclaimed foreign wrecks within range are salvaged (cargo + scrap credits) and removed from the map. Your salvage ship still gets first dibs.

Capture staff on conquest

When an attacker conquers a planet, the defender's staff working there is rolled: 30% are captured, 50% stay with the defender, 20% are killed.
Captured staff join the attacker unassigned. If the attacker already has the same face in that specialization, the member gets another free portrait of the same specialization — if all are taken, they stay with the defender.

Workforce completely reworked (levels & CV)

Staff now work like commanders: each is a unique person with a specialization who gains 1 XP per day and levels up automatically (level 0→20, bonus +1% … +20%). Rarity tiers are gone.
Clicking a staff portrait opens their CV (image, age, home planet, biography, career, experience).
Applications as before (3/day + bonuses) plus finds via probe/miner — all names are unique.
Images are now managed per specialization (10 per role: 5 male, 5 female), uploaded in the admin area.
Note: this update reset all existing staff and all old personnel images.

Clicking a commander portrait now opens the personnel file: large image, a detailed biography with age and home planet (incl. planet lore), service record (recruitment, ship assignments, escape pod) and detailed kill statistics by target type.

Each character portrait can be assigned to only one commander. When no portrait is free, no new applicant appears — so the number of commanders is capped by the uploaded portraits.

The pirate ship is now an NPC-only vessel (pirate/outlaw) and can no longer be built by players at the war shipyard.

Kill statistics, escape pods & war-shipyard commanders

New "Kill statistics" page: kills broken down by target type (fighters grant less XP than a capital ship) incl. commander XP and a per-ship list.
When a ship with a commander is destroyed: 50% escape pod (survives, available again), 35% killed, 15% defects to the enemy.
Commanders can only be assigned to ships from the large war shipyard — not the small one.

Commanders now appear as applications with a portrait — pick from several candidates and hire one.
Portraits come from the character portrait pool; in the admin area you can upload more anytime under "Extra / more images".
Fleet battles now fire real salvos: warships consume plasma/ammo and the enemy returns fire (your fleet can take damage).
Each commander card shows the assigned ship's kills.

Commanders start as recruit (grey) and rank up via their ship's kills — each level grants skill points.
Skills boost the ship: damage, armor (less damage taken), accuracy.

Fleet supplier: mobile plasma & ammo resupply

In a fleet, the supplier loads plasma AND ammo at the HQ (up to half capacity) and refills the warships' magazines and depleted ammo weapons on the move.
Warships no longer need to return to the HQ for resupply as long as a supplier flies along.
Plasma magazine and supply reserves (plasma/ammo) are now shown directly in the ship overview.

Every warship now tracks its kills — shown in the ship overview (🎯).
Fleet kills name the ship that landed the final blow.
Combat/kill messages in the inbox are throttled (at most 1 per fleet/ship every 5 min) — the daily report keeps every entry.

Your own carrier fighters now fight autonomously

Your carrier's fighters now autonomously hunt pirate/outlaw/rebel — just like Terra and the enemy.
Depending on mission: in a fleet the fleet takes over, with a patrol planet they defend the area, otherwise free hunt.
Kills grant bounties (1,000 Cr per fighter) and are reported. No auto-rebuild — you rebuild fighters manually at the carrier.

Fighters: bounty, no wreck, carriers rearm at base

Destroyed fighters no longer leave a salvageable wreck — they are removed immediately.
Warships and fleets now also hunt fighters; each destroyed fighter yields a 1,000 Cr bounty.
Carriers no longer spawn fighters in the field — they fly to base to rearm (vulnerable en route without a squadron).

An armed fleet now fires on hostile NPC ships in range even without an active hunt mission (self-defense) — e.g. when sitting inside an enemy group.
The "Hunt pirates" mission additionally targets the fighters of enemy carriers.

Individual warships now also report the start of a firefight (throttled, at most once per 5 min per ship).
The fleet supplier now also resupplies itself with plasma/ammo; plasma only goes to ships that actually use plasma weapons.

The ship card now immediately shows the correct armament after (un)mounting weapons.
Terra now offers at most 1 colony-module delivery contract at a time.

The "Hunt pirates" mission now also targets rebels (including their carrier mothership).

Three new war-shipyard vessels

Battlecruiser (level 8): heavy weapon platform with 90 slots, between cruiser and battleship.
Siege ship (level 9): bombards a valid target from orbit, softening garrison, population and morale before an invasion.
Minelayer (level 3): lays a defensive minefield at your planets — attackers (pirate/outlaw/PvP) are damaged beforehand.
Every war-shipyard level from 1 to 10 now unlocks at least one ship.

Successful invasion defenses raise morale; reinforcing your own occupation is now combat-free.
